I was born in rural Oregon. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of my dad and the neighborhood men working out in the shop. These guys were always repairing or making something. It was a lot of fun hanging around listening to their stories. I first became interested in vintage machinery because I was too poor to buy new stuff, the imported machines available were kind of junky, so my only option was to scan the want ads. I soon found that I could restore an older quality machine for less money than it takes to buy an imported POS. I now enjoy fixing up and using old machines as much as I do woodworking. In early 2003 I finally got to build my detached shop (30' X 40'). No more garages for me! For about 2 months I thought life was great and then space started to get tight again. I'm now in the middle of adding on an 8' X 40' extension for the cyclone and for general storage. It sure happens fast.

Oliver 287 (1974) Heavy Duty shaper--reconditioned and oh so smooth.
Oliver 173 Jig saw--restored, a neat machine but I have little need for it
