Message from the Webmaster
NOTICE: As many have noticed,
the OWWM.com site has been largely unavailable during much of the month of February,
2008. This was due to database issues that were brought on by changes to our
server by our former web host. To make sure that this does not happen again,
we ultimately decided to move the site to a new host and to operate the OWWM.com
site on a dedicated server which we now own and control. This should mean
much better service in the future as well as plenty of room to grow. Thank
you to the many OWWM members who
donated
for the purchase of the new hardware needed to get the OWWM.com site back on line!
In addition to a new host and server, during this transition, we have also totally
re-written much of the code that makes this site work as well as upgraded to a much
more powerful database. As a result of this, not all features of the web site
have yet to be implemented. Please be patient with us as we continue to develop
the new OWWM site and bring you many new features.
With the many changes that are taking place, there is a possibility that things
may not operate as they should and you may receive an occasional error message.
We strongly encourage our visitors to please notify us of any problems that they
encounter so that we can fix them. If you do not report a problem, there is
a very good chance that it will go un-noticed until someone brings it to our attention.
And, as always, if you have any comments or suggestions for improving the OWWM.com
site, we encourage you to let us know. The best place to do that is in the
OWWM.com Support Forum
at our sister site -
OWWM.org. |

Publication Reprints
The Old Woodworking Machines web site also attempts to document as many reprints
of old catalogs, manuals and other paper items from woodworking machinery manufacturers
as possible. Nearly all of these re-prints were supplied by visitors to the site
from their personal collections. If you have any old woodworking machinery publications
that you would like to submit to the site, please see our
Submitting Content page.
If you are looking for what publication reprints we have, the easiest way to find
them is to search the Manufacturers Index
for the manufacturer you are looking for.

Machine Serial Number Registry
|
An ongoing project of the Old Woodworking Machines web site is to document as many
examples of machines and their serial numbers made by the different manufacturers
as possible in the Machine Serial Number Registry.
The reason we want to document these machines it in order to create a rough timeline
as to when a machine was made. Our theory is that if we can create a database of
machines and their serial numbers, we can begin to look for the subtle changes made
over the years as they improved their machinery which can be determined by old catalogs,
ads and similar documentation.
|
The Machine Registry is maintained by a group of volunteers who each take on the
responsibility of one or more manufacturers. If you see a manufacturer that is not
currently listed and would like to serve as a Registry Steward, please contact let
us know.
